Master Vesterholm has, to our knowledge, made three of these large blasted free hands. This is undoubtedly some of his finest work. When Hans Former Nielsen inspected this and the other blasted pipes on this site, he proclaimed these three, to be the finest work ever done by Jon – when it comes to pipe carving. The pipe draws inspiration from the long Danish pipe carving tradition, also from the Ivarssons and there are a resemblance to the work, being done in Germany in these years.

The pipe has perfect ring grain. The shank is oval, sharpening towards the bottom. The stem is from the Ivarsson school, and perfectly executed by Jon, who does some of the finest stem work in the world. The smooth rim and the thin box wood ring serves as decoration, and boy, do they serve the pipe right. A master piece from a series of pipes, that we hope to see many of in the years to come.
