We are proud and happy to introduce the Italian pipe maker Gabriele Dal Fiume in our shop. We have known and followed Gabriele and his work for some years, and now we feel that its time to offer his fine pipes to our customers. Lucky enough, Gabriele felt the same... Many of the pipes are inspired by the ocean - the graceful and dynamic movement of fish and waves and the beautiful seabed with rocks and seaweed. To emphasize the inspiration for the pipes and the finish and surface of the pipes, they are stamped with different symbols: You will find a "Turtle" on all sandblast pipes - since the skin of the turtle is very close to the surface of a sandblast pipe... If a smooth pipe has an extraordinary fine grain and a harmonic shape like a fish in the water, you will find the sign of a "Nautilus" on the pipe... A very few pipes will in addition also have a "Ladybug"-stamp - these are considered to be the most outstanding of all pipes from Gabriele. These markings are not to be regarded as a precise grading system, but more as a way for Gabriele to express his own thoughts about the design and finish of his work in the particular pipe. The mouthpieces are all made by hand using German Ebonite and Cumberland, and sometimes also Briar. For the tenon Gabriele use the flexible material "Nylon 66" that ensures that it will not brake - a nice detail! If a pipe is decorated with a ferule it will be either Boxwood or Masur-birch.
